I'm suspicious of some of the charges I received for an overdrawn account partly because of the delays for POS purchases charged to my account which are not posted right away online, and the inaccuracy of posted available funds because of it though the transactions are approved by the bank itself. In fact, sometimes pending charges from POS purchases somehow become available funds posted and days later become a debit causing the posting of inaccurate available funds and subsequent overdrawing of the account. I know I can better watch the balance, but am I wrong for thinking that I can check my available funds online with "Wells Fargo Bank"?

There should be a state banking commisioner you could go to, but if you keep a register of your account instead of relying on the online balance you should know more accurately how much is available to you and have fewer overdrafts.

There's a difference between your "ending" balance and your "available" balance.

Your available balance is the most current information regarding the funds you have available for withdrawal, ATM or Check Card purchases, or writing checks.

Your ending balance is your account balance at the end of the last business day. The ending balance does not include any pending transactions that have occurred since the close of the last business day.

Pending transactions usually post to your account within one to three business days, depending on the type of transaction.

You can always complain to the Better Business Bureau. But as someone already stated, checking your balance online is NOT an indicator of how much money you have to spend. There could be pending charges that haven't cleared yet (yes, the charges have been approved but not yet debited from your account). You need to track your account with a check register. If you want, just set up an Excel Spreadsheet. Click the link below to find a template you can download.

Depending on where you live there should be an ombudsman or fair trading council or something like that.
When my bank had dodgy fee practices I left and fully researched the bank that I am currently with, how I incur fees, I also keep really good tabs on the transactions.

The bank should be able to tell you although I am the kind of person who feels bad, even though they are the ones who are wrong. So I don't know how comfortable you would be in going to them and complaining, then if you are still not satisfied with the results they should be able to point you to an independent party who could help.
