It will FOREVER be pronounced RYE ANN by everyone who meets her for the first time, teachers who read the name for roll call, etc.

My best friend in high school was named Ryanne, but it was pronounced Ryan. I thought it was cute, but she hated it. I don't like it pronounced Ree-ann. I agree with the others that people would constantly mispronounce it.

I don't particularly like it, but I do like the name Ryan for a girl (yes, the boy name used for a girl). If you want to name her "Ree Ann", think of a different spelling, so people with pronounce it better. One way of spelling it is Rhianne, or even Reanne (like Leanne).

It sounds nice but get ready to have to explain how to pronounce it over, and over again. The spelling is so close to Ryan, most people will read it as Rye-ann or Ryan.

I wouldn't do it because the kid will spend their whole life correcting the spelling and pronunciation. My husband's mother spelled his name differently than it sounds, and we are soooooo sick of explaining to people how it's pronounced and how it's spelled and why it's spelled differently than it looks. It's so annoying. Don't do that to your kid!!
