Screw the dictionary. My definition is the following: to conduct one's self with dignity, class, and grace. To have a quiet, be it unspoken, fluidity about yourself. It is not something that is intentional, rather a natural beauty, if you will.

When your persona is not a barrier to the outside world. The confidence of your true soul or character is easily attracted by the masses. Referring to the age old saying that, "beauty is only skin deep". People, both male & female notice the grace and charisma you exude while in their presence as being not phoney but, a true and genuine aura. That's elegance as well as classy.
I hope this helps.
Sincerely,
BS from Canada

"TO BE" is very different to "looking"
"to be" one must live that way. So you see it is a state of mind.
So many women look elegant until they move or say something
same with men they look good until they act!

I would say it's to be physically attractive in ways that are along the lines of high-quality fabrics and accessories, good posture, having good manners, good grooming and tasteful make-up, sort of classic, clean-cut lines in clothing, not overly colorful or trendy, dignified.
