Not to be mean, but the quote by Bertrand Russel is "The trouble with the world is the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt." To return your quote, do you know who said "The height of cleverness is the ability to conceal it" ?

You're asking two questions, and the fact that I'm 147-153 and dont really excel in anything and am only trying to get by is irrelevant. The relevant question is why incompetent people don't realize it and the intelligent doubt themselves. Dr. David Dunning found that that incompetent people don't have the ability to recognize competence, so they're completely unaware of their own incompetence. Highly competent people assume that most people are doing as well as themselves and judge their own personal abilities to be less than they really are. This is exaggerated at both ends of the scale, the extremely incompetent and the extremely competent.

Because they make us feel stupid and it makes us feel doubtful of them. That's why I think they seem doubtful because we realized they are in fact smart, they just seems to make us feel like we really do fall short of them and that's the truth. And on the other hand, we think they're playing with our minds which really seems to make us feel all the more inadequate.
