Irony is the superior response: it is more cerebral, more tolerant, quieter, and more forgiving. Irony recognizes the enivability of human folly and failure.
So I wish I could say I leaned more toward irony than sarcasm.
Sarcasm is more emotionally satisfying and I am more drawn to it.
Over the years, however, I have learned that using sarcasm to score points sometimes invites other people to use their fists to score points. And that sarcasm just doesn't have a productive effect on people big than me, the police, or judges. That stunning sarcasm ironically leads to losing battles.
So I try to stick to irony.

I lean toward sarcasm. It is tough to use sarcasm on this forum because people either think I am not very intelligent or crazy. But that can also hold true for real life situations.
