What can we do about it...protest, yes I suppose. But other than that, nada. They are higher up than any of us.

Well, I'm not a US citizen so I don't really know if everyone there just sits and takes the lies and corruption. Is it an American who asks the question?
Secondly, the same thing happens in other countries too.
One of the answers seems to suggest that people get the government they deserve, and in some ways I suppose that's correct.
But in our modern world the media play an important part in making and breaking a person's image. If you have enough money (e.g. to buy prime time, to advertise etc.), you have enough power.

I don't; I just turn the station. But I know what you mean...seems like there is no such thing as an honest person running for office. This is probably a situation where we should "bear arms" and overthrow the government as our founding fathers said we must. (JOKE!) So, in lieu of politicians, who should we vote for? And who would actually stand a chance of being elected? (And doesn't that keep most of us away from independents and write-ins?)
Any proposed solutions???

For the same reason they just sit and listen to the media when it spins its tales of how the country and the world is going: there is no other information outlet. They can't get a second opinion because there is a consensus of what our opinion should be before we know we should even have one.

Because there are HUGE amounts of money spent on PR in our Government. It's the same reason people think they need to go buy the latest stupid toy on the commercial. The Liars have "sold" their lies like any other product they want us to buy. A lot of people are "buying" it.

Not all of us 'sit and take it'. Some of us vote, write to our congressmen, protest, then have to listen to others call us unpatriotic, against our troops, etc. I do NOT have to agree with the government to be a patriotic citizen.

The only answer I can come up with is that people are blind and foolish. I sincerely hope that people will wake up and decide that civil disobedience is necessary to make a change.

Because the Dems didn't have enough people get out and vote the last few elections. Hopefully Tuesday that will change.

Who is going to help with the truth? The News Media?
And who will we replace them with? They are all undesirable. We need a third party. Or maybe even a fourth.

cause the masses are stupid and don't want to change from drooling over hummers, watching american idol and worrying what is on their video ipod.
the masses won't wake up till its too late.....look at germany for that perfect example under hitler.....didn't realize till was way too late. took them over 40 yrs to rebuild a society.
do you think the kids today can go w/o their ipods for even 3 days? hahahahahahaha......we are screwed!!
