Frankly, I must say the problem might not really come from this person.

That is, what if the other guy, his brother in law (BOL), is not so much interested and is avoiding the matter!! This would simply "Sandwich" the person between you and his BOL.

Furthermore, it also depends upon what values to them ,i.e. they may be considering how to proceed and whether their family would accept you as their potentially new member.

Therefore there are also many other factors that might be causing the problem. So without appropriate knowledge of the matter just do not jump too quickly to a conclusion as who knows perhaps you will ultimately need this person's help to better integrate the family and to adapt to your prospective new life!

Furthermore with the latest clarification you gave, I would also like to add that if he is very busy sometimes some urgent problems may also be more important for him!

I also think that though he is your client, you should personally try to contact him to know more about his social/private life. Sometimes it is also very difficult to understand people only through their professional work.

He is a very typical guy.
The explanation could be one ,or several of the following:
1. He likes to mind his own business
2. He doesnt repeat gossip. For all he knows, you are just leading his brother in law on.
3. He hates his brother in law.
4. He doesnt like you
5. He knows his brother in law already has a significant person/girlfriend./common law wife.
6. He lost your phone number. Like I said he is a typical guy.
7. He doesnt think it is of any importance.

Well either the guy you told is slow and forgets things OR the brother in law you like may be with someone right now

You should not invlove yourself with a client it would be bad for your career, if you cannot talk than having anything else would be more difficult. Wait until he is no longer a client than go for it.

I'm not sure about the other person but from what I read, grow up and take care of your own bussiness. You're probably not in high school anymore.

He's lazy, forgetful or he doesn't like you.
Why don't you tell him yourself and cut him out of the equation all together? You're adults right? I don't understand the amount of grown people on this site, acting like kids in the playground.

He's mentally lazy, or he does not want to get involved in your love life. He probably figures if you don't have the courage to face his brother in law yourself, your not worthy of him.

conclude that you can't rely on this lazy bum. Get the job done properly by cutting out the middle man and doing it yourself.
