circumcision of girls is illegal and horrible genital mutilation. it is banned in the USA and most other countries. it is a horrible barbaric practice of cutting out the clitoris sowing together the labia (sometimes those are cut off too) and leaving a whole only large enough for menstrual fluid to fit through. these women suffer horrible pain and infections, are more likely to die in child birth or tear horribly and have to be completely stitched back together. it is absolute a vial thing... male circumcision while much less sever and considered normal here in America is also a horrible barbaric out dated practice that involves removing a piece of tissue from the penis. the cutting of peoples genitals needs to be stopped. there is not a single medical organization the world over that promotes or states that it is good for anyone (male or female) to be circumcised. these are horrible practice that need to be stopped. to stop them people need to be educated about them instead of following tradition, as is the norm when it comes to circumcision. this includes all forms of mutilation of the genitals...every person as a basic human right deserves to have their genital left intact.

True, neither is inherently good, but male circumcision is generally viewed as "less destructive" than female circumcision. In male circumcision the foreskin of the penis is removed so the glans is always exposed.
Female circumcision has a much larger range. In its "least invasive" forms it involves simply piercing or remove the clitoral hood (basically the same thing as the male foreskin). However, female circumcision as it's extreme removes the entire clitoris and I think parts of the labia and something weird with the vagina. This is like removing a part of a guy's penis and then some. Clearly, this IS more destructive than any male circumcision.
All the above, male and female, reduce sexual sensitivity and pleasure, and all are inherently unnecessary. However, female circumcision in its most extreme versions can be very dangerous (more dangerous than male circumcision) and can manifest later in life during childbirth.
The ironic thing is that the arguments against female circumcision is usually not applied to male circumcision. There is a double-standard that shouldn't exist. Some of the fundamental arguments against female circumcision are the child's decision, the child's genital integrity, and the child's ownership of her own body. Why does neither of these apply to males? This is what most bothers me. It isn't fair to say that female circumcision is "worse" than male circumcision, because that's a given. But that doesn't decrease the fact that male circumcision violates those three arguments as well, just for males instead.
It isn't logical to say that male circumcision "may have some benefits" because there are actually some articles, very few, that state that "properly done" female circumcision may confer some health benefits. Clearly most people automatically disregard these. Again, there is a double-standard. Some things in life don't make sense, and some things aren't fair.

I would prefer that it should be called female genital mutilation. Basically, it is a "ceremony" that is performed on young girls and their clitoris and part of their inner labia is cut off. Then, the rest of the labia is sewn up. All of this is to prevent these girls from EVER having any type of sexual pleasure. There is NO PURPOSE for this, no health benefits, etc. In fact, some of these girls won't even make it through the procedure or the recovery because of infection. From what I know, sometimes only a sharp rock or knife is used and is used on many girls at once. Not too sanitary. It is outlawed here (Thankfully!!) and should be everwhere else. Besides the physical trauma, there is much psychological trauma as well. Feelings of distrust, low self-esteem, etc.

It's barbaric! They mutilate the female sexual organs so that the female is no longer able to orgasm. It's banned in most civilized countries, but parents sometimes still take their 8/9 year old daughters abroad to have it carried out. When they are married they cannot enjoy the loving, spiritual experience that love-making can bring and I wonder what enjoyment the males can possibly have sleeping with a woman who cannot have any enjoyment at all.

This is a terrible practice to have done to a young girl or woman. It takes away from pleasure can cause issues in childbirth and can lead to infections and issues. It's something that some very egotistical men started to try to put women "in their place" so they can be put down and treated like scum. It makes those men feel better about themselves. It's sick and wrong to do. It doesn't serve any moral, positive purpose at all other than feeding the pride and selfishness of evil people who force it on women and girls. There are men who treat women like dirt - without circumcising them - they do other acts of emotional and physical cruelty and they are equally wicked people. The degrading of women takes place all over the world through abortion, pornography and various other methods - the stripping of a woman's feminitity, heart soul and the removal of love - this is tragic and very sad.
