I would be lying if I said a person's appearance didn't affect my perception of them.

That said, I have friends of all colors, races, ages, ethnicities, sizes, you name it... I don't see someone's appearance as a stumbling block to their friendship.

I really, sincerely do try to see the good in everyone, and to value everyone I meet as a child of God, even if I dislike them. But when we've been raised in a culture that has taught us (women) that our most important asset is our looks, it's hard to break the habit of snap judgments based on looks alone.

When I was a kid I guess I kind of did. A lot of kids are immature. I use to say I wouldn't hang out with anyone ugly because I didn't want to catch the ugly disease. A very childish thing to say but I was a child when I said it. I'm a wife and a mother now and I would never want my children to act the way I did. I try not to judge anyone right away. I cannot say if I like someone or not without getting to know that person and a persons appearance has absolutely no bearing. Short, tall, fat, skinny, white, black, brown, purple. It doesn't matter to me as long as they are a good person.

honestly not really..ok...a no. I always tell to myself that 'dont judge the book by its cover'. So whether that person has looks or none...I'm alright...same goes to weight. Of course, me being a reserved person, when first meeting a person I'll usually be quiet and observe the person first. Not everyone I can be comfortable or tense. Not everyone is the same anyway.
I think it must be their personality that must make me like them as a friend or so forth.

If someone is dirty or smells bad, I probably won't take the time to get to know them because my nose is pretty sensitive, but looks as looks, aren't a problem. I do tend to avoid people with obvious things, like the huge pierce in the lip or nose, mainly because I can't help 'looking' at it...it's hard to concentrate on what someone is saying when all you can see is this huge piece of metal on their lip or nose...just a personal thing.

Not to be rude but EVERYONE JUDGES! EVERYONE-its a animal behavior that is in all humans, it comes from basically nature for good reason-this is why?......because evolution tries to create better and better species every generation, but to do this animals have to detect the best mate-which would be a healthy weight and healthy looks-this is why in society we judge people on looks(b/c we have animal instincts)- a fat person is (no offense sorry!) viewed as kinda stupid b/c you cant get away from preditors quickly if you over weight and too skinny is viewed (well by most except the brainwashed) to be bad b/c it makes it look like you can't retrieve food. "Looks" like facial features and body parts must come from animals trying to aviod diseases and genetic defects "beautiful" looks for animals is free from these negatives while "ugly" looks may resemble diseases and defects. Also people are Very! obsessed with how they look-because nature has told them in there brains that they need to look nice so they can reproduce because as stated before you can't reproduce if you don't look nice-this finally is why we judge people based on looks because are natural instincts are constantlly telling us if we are better than others and would be choosen over others to reproduce
Sorry this is kinda confusing but I hope you understand what i'm getting at!
IT COMES FROM NATURE
As time has progressed we have been better on being less judgemental but you can't shy away from our natural animal behavior.

People are aweful sniveling snot monsters with self serving addendas and heartless demeanors. People see you for the first time and make a judgement they will believe until the end of time itself. Don't rely on what people think. They are evil and only want to destroy you after they use you till you break. Just rely on yourself and ignore all those horrid envious pigs.

Only to a certain extent, in that everyone should have self discipline and take care of their outward appearance.
If you have some sort of physical problem and can't help how you look, that is not an impediment to friendship.

No I do not judge people only on their appearance.

The older you get,...someones looks do not seem to matter so much. You start looking for other qualities in people.

the way someone looks is oftentimes my first basis, but it's not the only means of assessment. it always boils down to personality, integrity, self security and proper judgement.

I judge on weight, but not looks. People can be fat if they want to, but looks are not really totally under their control.
