Sometims I'm just browsing the internet or actually typing a document, and my computer turns off! It makes a whirring noise too and then it turns off and it's extremely hot...what's wrong? is there hope for my laptop or should i just buy a new one?

Buy a laptop cooler, Has fans that the laptop will sit on to keep it cool, works great $30 at BestBuy

There's been a recall of many laptop batteries due to extreme overheating, some even causing fires. Heat is definitely a reason that CPU's in computers will crash, so I'd check the battery to see if it's the type that is prone to overheating. Apparently it is the Sony batteries, but distributed to many other pc manufacturers, that are being recalled. Read the article at the below link. Good luck.

i agree with answer addict, if its a laptop, the ventelation area might be blocked off, or there is almost no batter power left, and it shuts down.

sounds like it is overheating ... maybe you need a better internal fan ??
