A serpentine belt isn't comparable to a timing belt. The serpentine belt is a belt that runs the water pump, air con pump, smog pump, and alternator, rather of two or 3 different belts working those issues. The timing belt is very significant and in the journey that your vehicle has that many miles on it you would be smart to have it replaced. If that belt ought to ruin you're staring at $1000. in upkeep. a sparkling timing belt activity is particularly intense priced yet okay properly actually worth the fee.

I am a Mechanic and it is definitely the belt. When its cold, rainy or wet the belt gets moisture in it and with the air con on or under load it slips i would replace the serpentine belt. Also if the inside of your belt isn't cracking and the belt has correct tension on it use a bar of soap and while the car is running rub it on the inside of the belt

go to auto parts store, get a can of spray belt dressing
if you have more than one belt, start with the smallest one...
while the engine is running and squealing, spray the contact surface of the belts...if it stops squealing, that belt is the problem.
proceed through all the belts. if this does not locate the problem, it probably is not a bad belt...perhaps a bearing on a pulley
from what you describe, i would check the pulley bearing on the power steering pump

depending on year make and model your car can have 1 or 2 serpentine belt or 2 or more v-belts most serp -belts have self tensioners but not all of them are v-belts need adjusted periodically but all need to be inspected for cracks and fraying be careful NEVER check while car is running !!! your local auto-parts store will be happy to help if not go to a different one!

The drive belt is likely worn. There is a number of things that can also be wrong, but if you haven't replaced your belt lately/ I would start for changing it.

Could be the belt or (if your car has them) a belt tensioner or an idler pulley.

Might be as simple as tightening the belt.
