A Hippo would win but most of the time one croc isn't going to take on a hippo a couple of them could take one down but not without any injurys of their own.

In an encounter between a Nile CROCODILE and a hippopotamus the hippopotamus would win as long as it were full grown. Nile Crocodile's are unable to get through the skin of an adult hippopotamus.

There are only 2 species of alligator. One is the well known American resident (A. mississippiensis), the other is the Chinese alligator(A. sinensis).

The Hippo would win. Alligator wouldn't even be able to hurt the Hippo.

This has been documented on film, the hippo kicked butt. But it looked like a croc instead of an alligator

The thing on animal planet was a one time incident. I do think the hippo would win for the most part but thats not to say it would win everytime.

The one who is the bigger. If the nile alligator is bigger than the hippopotamuse, the nile alligator will win and vice versa.
