First of all, if you don't have any anti-spyware software or current antivirus, you probably just had a pop-up stating that you are infected (old trick, but people fall for it all day long). When you clicked on it, well...you THEN become infected. Sorry.

There are lots of antispy programs out there. You can go to CNET or PCMAG.com and read the reviews and tutorials for yourself. SuperAntiSpyware is what I use (for free) and works real good.

Now - to REALLY protect your computer, get either AVG or Avast for free. Yes - dump norton if you haven't done (paid for) the updates. Personally, I prefer Avast (link below), but AVG is also good. When you install it, say 'yes' to a boot scan and restart.

You will most likely need a few programs to really clean yourself, so study the guides on CNET or PCMAG.com.

Good luck.

Try Ad-Aware and Spybot. Both are free software. It is best to download both, as they each have their own way of detecting spyware.
