So they know you're not stockpiling millions somewhere. Of course, how are they going to know you're telling them everything. It's dumb.

This is to verify your income. Some people make money or get child support etc.. and don't report it on there taxes. This is a simple way to assure someones income.

they use the statements to varify that you are low income...it is common to be asked for this information..............
