There are several good styles of self taking blood pressure machines available at low cost that provide a decent and acceptable reading----there is the traditional style of sphygmomanometer that uses the well known cuff and bladder with a stethoscope attached to the cuff to make it easy to self check-----this style does take a little more practice to develop a 'feel----and an 'ear' for getting the correct reading-------and then there are self take digital automatic read-out styles-------there are some you merely put on your wrist and push a button-----they seems to show a reading close enough to be satisfactory...... then there are models that have a cuff that may be used either on the upper arm or forearms----also auto-------push a button and you get good results without training-------beauty part is you can check it often and under a wide variety of circumstances----i suggest checking often---at rest----under stress----while calm----after activity------as well as checking difference between left arm and right arm so you will know if there is a big difference between arms (can be significant is some patients) you do need to know this. you can then report the findings to the doctor.

Yes she can. But if someone has been diagnosed with High Blood Pressure, It's best if they do regular checks. Once a month is not enough.
I would recommend at least once or twice a day depending on the severity of their condition. As a matter a fact one should consult a doctor about how regularly their blood pressure should be check at home.
Here's a video that shows you how to check you blood pressure at home.

Yes! Sure. You can get good reliable cuffs at you're pharmacy. I think once a month is to little. Not sure how often, but you should keep a running log.
Now these numbers by themselves won't help you at all! They will reflect the up and down pattern of things. Then if you see something you don't like, go and get a doctor's opinion so that he can do something for you.
I think, use caution with ACE inhibitors, beta blockers are best in most cases. Garlic capsules, and some light exercise, not right after eating salty food, which you shouldn't eat.

Lloyd's Pharmacy have a £9.99 automatic blood pressure monitor on offer at the moment.
I got one a couple of weeks ago and thought it must be inaccurate as the readings were higher than I expected or they should be, so I got them checked by a doctor and unfortunately his readings were the same as the Lloyd's Pharmacy monitor so I've had to do something about it.

yes, though you'll need a stethescope and some instruction by a trained pro would be wise.
I'd suggest you find her a drug store neerby that has a blood pressure machine at the pharmacist's desk to use for free untill you get the equipment and instructions.

They make a cuff now that you can wrap around your arm and it will give you a digital readout without using a stethescope. Check at any pharmacy.
