we got rid of republicans and democrates and all the mud slinging and just voted on what was best for the country? I know this will never happen... but what are your thoughts on this?

I think the House of Representatives should be modified in such a way that the reps from each district are chosen at random from the populace (maybe using the jury pool).
The requirements would be:
1) Resident of that district for not less than 2 years
2) At least 25
3) No misdemeanor or felony convictions.
4) Mentally fit, no drug use.
5) Can speak read and write the English language
There would be no repeat terms.

Think about it. You would have people in the House who are there to do a job as a duty, not a source of income or political capital farming. The whole thing would change for the better.

Leave the Senate to the professional politicos.

Until you change the system, nothing will change. There will always be compromise that leaves the citizen taxpayer the one holding the bag.

Yes. I think if we had a viable 3rd party that could come in and actually work for the people we would be a better country for it.

Currently Democrats and Republicans are fighting for themselves and their own bank accounts. The two party system is flawed in the fact that it splits the electorate. In other words the two party system places the middle class and lower class at war with each other. The two party system only works to split us as a people.

One day I hope that a 3rd party candidate can pull the people together and put an end to the Republican and Democrat reign.

Might as well put Yahoo! in charge. Judging by those TV commercials, every candidate would get a few hundred violations each day. Maybe that would clean it up.

I wish all candidates would tell us in those gawd awful commercials what they are "For" and what they will do if elected. But they'd rather bluff their way into office, and not commit to anything or anyone (Except special interest groups of course)

Possibly, but it wouldn't be much of a democracy.

I think they should outlaw or at least limit the mudslinging. We get an info overload and I think it may even turn some people off to voting which is horrible.

i like the form you diminished each and every thing so as which you're making the cutoff. For the record, 18 is a superbly reasonable criminal age. And kiddo, i think of you need to study 1984. you apart from could ought to have a looksee at our shape. One or 2 of those (like marijuana) are reasonable; something made me say "have you ever lost your goddamn recommendations?"

there was mud slinging before there was republicans and democrats and will be after those parties are no more.
Sadly polls show that those type of adds do more to get votes than positive adds

Great idea. We would be better off if everyone voted in the best interest of the entire country.

That would be ideal, but unfortunately the whole problem stems from the very fact that we cannot agree on what is best. However, I would like to see them make negative ads during campaigns illegal. All the name-calling is really uncalled for.

yeah I know what you mean. I hate all that mudslinging stuff.

I don't vote for them.

Irregardless of what party the person is from, I vote for the ones that have the same views on issues as I do.

Totalitarian w/ one man, one decision, do what your told and shut-up!!! I'm your man baby! But on a more serious note: sure, but what is "best" for the country. I can give my ideas for "best", but they may not agree with your best, and then I paint you green and you paint me gold. I will call you a jackass because your beliefs for freedom and peace are too vague, and my beliefs for freedom and peace lead to war with a noun (terror). Then we are back to said question. Sorry I love the idea though.

p.s. the "yours & my" beliefs are tottaly hypothetical, thanks.
