They can be anything, so see the pediatrician. He has to look at it and examine it. They could be Montgomerys glands

If you worry about those 'funny bumps' on the areola, those are supposed to be there; they are called Montgomery glands. Their function is partially unknown, but scientists suppose they are there to lubricate the nipple/areola area.

These Montgomery glands can be about unnoticeable, OR stand out as bumps on the areola. They often become more prominent during pregnancy. Also, it appears they are white in some women.

Some women have squeezed them and can get a white substance out, but please do NOT squeeze them because that causes them to become infected.

In infants, they may appear due to the remaining estrogen effect while the baby was in the womb.

it is a milk deposit that had harden babies. can get this nothing serious. just when he get little older doctors can remove this. or maybe he will end up scratching it open . like an oil pocket . on grown adult only from birth some babies just have this . no worries. no i had a baby had some on face. we took his diaper and cleaned it with his own urinee it cleared it up fast. . this was an old trick my grandparents taught me . see babies urin is pure. and very clean. , but beings this baby only has this one i wouldn't worry about it . his pediatrician will deal with when time comes if it does not eventually go away on it s own

It's quite normal, may be just a calcium deposit. As long as it's not painful for the baby, he should be fine. To be safe, have her call the Dr. to make sure.

I would say the best way to know is have your friend take her son to the doctor to find out.
