Sounds like either the pressure plate isn't releasing all the way, and/or the clutch cable is stretched or frayed. This would cause difficult shifting in ALL gears.

You don't give much information.
Many 80's ("Fox-bodied") mustangs have a **REALLY CRAPPY** clutch pedal mechanism. At the top of the pedal is a plastic "quadrant" (it looks like 1/4 of a circular gear) and there is a ratchet mechanism that is supposed to take up slack as the clutch cable stretches. I think you can hook your toe under the pedal and lift up and it is **supposed** to click like a ratchet but as many people know it was an inadequate plastic setup and seldom works on cars with lots of miles. On mine (don't have it anymore) I would have to stand on my head in the driver's floor with a flashlight and I could take a screwdriver and poke against the small "ratchet" part while lifting on the pedal and it would "click" and take up the slack (so I could shift again) but only slip back in a couple of days. Eventually had to replace the "quadrant" with an aluminum one from the aftermarket - they are quite common. You then have a more conventional method of taking up the slack - manual adjustment. But it worked well - but was a pain in the *** to install (unless you get off doing this kind of thing).

you will could get the pipes drained. generally whilst pumping a seize too a lot, you genuinely catch greater air bubbles interior the hoses that hyperlink inflicting greater injury than doing sturdy. The preliminary pump of the seize fluid gets via after which be blocked by utilising the air which has nowhere to bypass to. in many situations seize fluid would not could get replaced that generally in any respect, notwithstanding whilst it does get to empty that is terrific to have a mechanic do the pastime because of the fact the air could have outfitted up.

well if its a manual transmission and you go to put it in gear and the car acts like its in neutral then it's probably a throw out bearing (did I spell this right)... anyway i think that's what you are talking about...
