Somebody has to take the lead in solving the problem, as the principal did in the movie. He was willing to risk even going to jail, to help the students. But, at the same time, one person alone cannot solve the problem; the leader must accept and respect the work of the non-leaders who are doing so much of the actual work.
In the movie, the principal expelled and fired people who were destructive. He was so committed to his goal, he became a one-man juggernaut against ignorance. He did wonders, but he went too far in that he started to see anybody who disagreed with him as an enemy of the kids. He saw the error of this, and corrected his mistake. In the end, there was a united effort between him and all the teachers and students who wanted to improve that school.

More pouring of US tax dollars into the school system has not produced better education, quite the contrary, now it has become a crutch on what to lean on when funds are denied, also the same movie makers that are trying to point out the failures of our school system, are also the same ones that glorify drug dealers, gang bangers and lifetime government dependants. So much so that many of today's students wonder why should they get an education when they can make more money selling drugs or go on welfare

Some problems can only be addressed once they have been confronted on several fronts at once.

How can you fix public schools? Beats me. The answer as to how best to do anything is rarely found in the wisdom of any one work of fiction or non fiction.

There is no one solution to every situation, and the public school system needs as many different solutions as there are schools whithin it.
