Last night at about 2AM I went to go get my Ipod out of my car and when I got to me car I realized my passenger door was open and my lights were on. At first I didn't react to that because I've been known to do that, but when I looked in my car, my Ipod wasn't in it's normal place and the contents of my wallet were scattered everywhere. I ran inside and woke up my four roomates and they came outside and checked their cars to find that some of their belongings such as money, cds, cellphones, Mp3 players had been taken out of their cars. So here is my question...does this sound like a bunch of punks going around and taking things, or serious crooks? And should we warn our neighbors?

It's too hard to tell if it was kids or serious criminals who robbed you, but I do know one thing for sure:
YOU DO NOT NEVER EVER leave personal ID, wallets, jewelry, electronics that are NOT part of the car, or ANYTHING of value inside your vehicle if you do not have it locked in a garage at night. If you leave valuables lying in your car overnight, be sure someone is going to see them, and if they continue to see them in your car night after night they will eventually take them - I have never left anything of value inside my car overnight (unless you count fast food trash) so I've never had that problem.
Listen well - those who steal from you once, will look for ways to steal from you again. It's the stupidity of criminals.

I'm not sure if your car was locked or not? Did you lock it and they broke in? If your car was not locked, the Police will not help you. I had the same thing happen about 10 years ago, my car was not locked, I called the Police and when I told them my car was not locked, they wouldn't let me file a police report. Sounds stupid I know. Yes you should tell the neighbors. Make sure you always get all your valuables out of plain sight, cause people will rob you blind.

dosent matter if they were kids or serious crooks, u may never find out who took this stuff but u should contact the police department and let your neighbors know what happened , also lock your doors from now on ....

i thinkit could be the start of serial robberies, i would warn neighbors, but dont get overly concerned.

I would defiantly report it to the police... I don't know how to tell. But file a report for sure.
