Hermaphrodites, actually...and yes, but they have both sets of sexual organs. Earthworms can do that...and some other different animals. Humans, however, cannot...they're strictly male-female breeders.

There are actually some species of fish that can be transexual(the link below describes clownfish), there is one male and a few females in a small group. When the male dies, a female changes into a male to replace him.

In humans, it is not possible for direct mating between the same sex to produce offspring. There is study into whether they can fuse two female egg cells together to produce a zygote..but this would never happen naturally.
