Ok, I am a total technophobe and I did it. I went to "how to set up myspace" and followed directions. It wasn't hard (or maybe first time was the charm). I just know I have no clue how myspace works and it worked for me. It should work for you, too. If not, ask a question right there.

Your own picture? You would have to upload it to a server that will host the picture (e.g. http://www.photobucket.com), and I would go to http://www.mygen.co.uk for help on background images. If you do not know anything about CSS (the type of language you will need to put in your page to put your background in) going to the "tutorials" section is probably a good place to start. Or just look up the basics of CSS to familiarize yourself withit.
