He's a nice looking horse but it's hard to judge conformation from a picture of him hanging out in the field. From what I see, he's straight in the shoulder, the neck ties in really low, and his hindquarters have a steep angle (croup slants down pretty sharply). From the way he's standing, his hock angle looks a bit straight, but I would need to see him squared up to really be able to tell. All of these conformational attributes are not ideal in a jumper and will make it more difficult for him to jump anything over about 3'.
He's a really cute horse and looks like he'd excel at english pleasure or western pleasure. You'll probably do pretty well at lower level hunter stuff, but show jumping may be difficult (it's hard to tell from a picture, he may be fully capable, I'm just giving you what I see from this one pic). Good luck with him and have fun!

What is this horses breeding? For jumping I like to see a strong shoulder and forearm w/a good strong haunches and a well muscled gaskin. Maybe w/conditioning its possible. Even the most well balanced horse doesnt always make a great jumper. Its in their nature to want to jump and to accept the jumps. Even under some of the best trainers some horses just dont make it. Give it a try and take it slow. How old is this horse?

he' gorgeous!!!!! but he doesn't look long enough in the leg or back for the big jumps. his hocks look well placed for barrels though. he's more of the western style. i'm sure he'll do fine over small jumps. he looks like he's got the heart. i read this passage once " IF YOU SEND YOUR HEART OVER A FENCE, YOUR HORSE WILL FOLLOW". i think it means if you have the confidence, your horse will trust you and do as you ask. trust is important. training is also important. unfortunately, how good he looks won't make him a show jumper. ask a trainer for advise.

i would say hunters instead of show jumpers. he is very pretty. he might lack in muscle a little but he looks young. so he might get it later. it would depend on his attitude. horses have to want to jump in order to jump well. i had a arab with legs about a 2 feet long (in other word his legs were short) but he loved to jump. he went over 3'6 easily. take some jumping lessons on him and see how he reacts.
