Where does red hair come from?

we'll i know that the sun somehow makes your hair lighter, thats why some ppl have blonde hair, and others have dark, but where does red hair come from? where did that start? what kind of climate, and amount of sunlight produced that?

The Ginger Gene hypothesis states that red hair and fair skin evolved over 100 thousand years ago (based on genetic evidence) but modern humans had not moved out of Africa by that time. This would mean that the trait would have either be carried over by the people migrating out of Africa (in which case all races would have some people with red hair), or it means that there were a different group living outside of Africa who contributed to the genetic makeup of northern Europeans. This hypothesis states that it is possible Neandertals developed in this region, and then intermixed with the populations coming out of Africa.

Red hair is most common out of northern european heritage...
It apparently came as a result of cold climate and low sunlight
however Mosopotamia certainly does not fit that description...

red hair is not a product of enviroment, but rather a genetic trait that you inherit from your parents. People with red hair are coded with two resessive genes, because blond black and brown hair are products of dominate genes, so you would have to be coded for red hair from both your parents to get it. But to answer your question, no it's not a product of climate and didn't originate anywhere, just as black skin or having noses didn't originate anywhere.
