Subject pretty much says it. I burned some wireless drivers onto a CD on my internet-connected XP box. That computer can read the files as can another XP box I have inhouse. But the new (old) 98 box I have can't seem to recognize the CD. I put in a commercial CD into the 98 box and the CD drive recognizes that with no problem. Do I have to do something special when writing my CD so that XP will be able to see it? Thanks.

In Nero make sure the settings in CD-ROM(ISO) are set to:

Data Mode 1, ISO 9660 + Joliet, max 8 characters (Level 1).

These discs are most compatible with older Operating Systems. If this does not help, i would suggest trying a different brand of discs.

As I understand it, you burned some files to a CD DATA disc with XP.
They are readable by XP but NOT by 98.

Were the drivers for XP or 98? if XP they are in a different format and will NEVER be read by 98. If "universal" see following.

XP uses a different file system that 98 can NOT access.
You need to check your settings for the DATA disc so that it burns in a "universal" mode readable by ALL systems. (Even if "readable" the drivers are usually "specific" to certain OS's, and won't work on others!)

I suggest READING the users manual that came with your burner software!!

My guess is that the CD was not finalized. Once finalized, it cannot be written to again but your 98 machine should be able to read it...

you should try finalize the CD, it might work, or 98 don't support the format of the CD
