~ ~ Spectacular Laya/Gasa Hot Spring Trek ~ ~

This is a moderate trek, which includes 5 days of sightseeing in Bhutan - Paro, Thimphu, Punakha and the surrounding valleys. Highest altitude on this trek is approximately 12,600 feet. The villages of Gasa with its hot springs and Laya are north of Punakha. No road extends from the trailhead at Tashithang up the valley as of yet and the only way to get here is on foot. Laya is a large isolated region in the far northwest of the Gasa district. The roughly 800 people of this area are from a group called Layap, who have their own language, customs and distinct dress.
