The best thing you can do is to find something that interests you, then find out as much as you can about it & do a project on that. You need to do it that way, in case the judges ask you questions about your project. If you studied enough, you'll be able to answer their questions enough to impress them, and possibly get a high score. When I was in 8th grade, I did a project on rocks & minerals. I had always been interested in rocks, picking up ones that sparkled, or had weird colors in them. I got a rock book and compared the ones I had to the pictures in the book. I studied about where they came from and how many of them were used in construction and buildings. I got an A+ on my project, and a second place at the fair. And it was all because I could answer the judges questions to their satisfaction. When you don't take shortcuts, it pays off. Now, if your project is due this week, you're gonna be sorry for waiting so long. It will be very hard to do anything on short notice. Hopefully, you're giving yourself plenty of time to study your project, make your report and anything else necessary to dazzle the judges. I wish you success in whatever you do. <*)))><

i did a project when i was in 8th grade n it won the 1st place.
i did bio pesticides.
(its a little disgusting, but very impressive)
its quite simple actually.
it is made up basically of neem leaves solution.
u should have some worms.
put the solution on leaves and then put the worms on them.
The worms will die in about 3 days.
it'll be good if u also had a control.

Go to Google and type in 'science project'. You HAVE to find something! The first site I looked at claimed to have 500 projects.

take some ice cubes, and some felt of many different colors, cover each ice cube in a sheet of felt then shine as many bright lights as you can find on the ice cubes. time the time it takes them to melt. the black felt ice cube will melt first. white last etc. then explain this is because black absorbs more heat then lighter colors, research this on wikipedia and write a good report.
Have Fun

I did one on model rockets and explained what made them fly and what would slow them down...plus everyone like it when we went outside and launched it.....buy a model rocket starter kit and do some research on real rocket engines...especially the nozzle....or you could try and explain the mentos and diet coke reaction
