I has killed thousands of Kurds with chemical weapons, this ammounts to genocide. In interogations of the alleged assassination attempt, 50 people died, mostly children. Under his regime, a pregnant woman was hanged. Fingernails being pulled out and drill bits through the shins were used as forms of torture and interogation. He would make the families of the executed pay for the bullets used to kill them. No one should stand up for this man. He is along the lines of Hitler.

The UN, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have all said this wasn't a fair trial, three lawyers were killed and another wounded and the judge was replaced. I haven't heard about him raping anyone personally, so maybe it was just a few "bad apples," like the guys at Abu Ghraib, doing that without his instructions. I don't think he's a nice guy, he probably is a murderer, but the trial was a joke.

I've yet to read of anyone making excuses for Saddam.
His guilty verdict has nothing to do with politics except for those trying to score political points for their side

Because the person who put Saddam into a position of power in the first place was none other than Ronald Reagan. If our own president hadn't placed him there, NONE of this would be happening.

No, i'm hoping Romney does. nevertheless, with the Black vote, i do no longer think of Obama can lose, even with what he does. I advise they re-elected Marion Barry as quickly as they observed the video of him smoking crack in a inn with somebody different than his third spouse. in the event that they're Black, they're in.

Being against the death penalty is not supporting Saddam. I'm against the death penalty and there's no reason why that should change now.

Hanging has a sort of 'negative' connotation somehow. Some people find it inhumane. So even if they hate him, it gives them the willies.

Given the documented atrocities attributed to him, his sons and their henchmen, no one could make excuses. If they try, I think they are as bad as he is.
I think before he his hanged, he should be tortured.
