I have had good luck in taking the marker and going back over the mark and quickly wipe it with a cloth or paper towel while it is still wet. Markers dry quick so you can only do a small area at a time and wipe it (and I repeat) while it is still wet. Don't know why this works but it sure does with a permanent marker.

The thinners they use interior the marker works as a sturdy remover. So if the marker did no longer penetrate into the timber then take the marker and hint over a small section and rub no longer hassle-free with a particularly damp textile. basically do an inch or 2 at a time.
