To me it means that you can say anything. Any word or words. Friendship is hard because it requires you to feel and think. It needs you to be there for each other, listen to each other, lean on each other, even when you don't want to. Words are the easiest thing to say. Even though you may not mean it.

I think it means that it is easy to SAY something, without necessarily meaning it, but it's hard to be someone's friend because that involves actions as well as just words.

Anyone can talk, hypothetically, about what a relationship entails, but to be in a REAL relationship is hard, because of all the ups and downs, gives and takes, compromises, etc etc

Our actions can hurt people even when we don't think so. We can say whatever we'd like..but we'd better understand the severity of our actions. Friendship is realizing what your actions mean to people.
