I want to know what they did in their spare time i knew they worked, but didnt women do all the work?

They worked. A lot in factories or on farms.

Good points about in what country.
In the United States, they were arguing over slavery and doing a pretty lousy job of it. Some were digging for gold in California.
But that's a pretty broad question.
