Becoming a British citizen is a long process. Initially you will need to apply to the British Embassy/High Commission in your country for some form of entry clearance (Visa). The visa, once issued, will allow you to visit the UK for a specified period of time and with certain limitations. Once said visa expires you must leave the UK. To become settled in the UK, the most usual way is to be a partner/spouse of a British citizen or someone with a settled status in the UK. There are a number of hurdles to jump if you decide to take this path so you will need further and more detailed advice. Basically, to become a British citizen you need to be legally present in the UK at the time of application for Naturalisation, habitually resident in the UK for a number of years etc. The whole process will take at least 5-7 years.
