Sorry, but you'll have a record now. YOU are responsible for your actions, not the facilitator nor the guy who upset you. If was your choice to assault him, now you will have to pay those consequences. Now look back on the situation, I'll bet it seems silly that you would allow yourself to get angry over that & now you'll have to pay money, do some time in jail, or perform community service, or possibly all three. In addition to that you could be liable for the other guy's medical expenses that he's incurred & possibly pain & suffering and/or punitive damages as well. You need anger management classes & not allow others to control your feelings. You & only you alone are responsible for your actions. If someone says something that angers you or that you perceive as a provocation you can choose your actions, you can firmly state I won't be disrespected or discuss this with you and end the conversation. You always have a choice to walk away. if you need a time out ask for one.But you should never choose to assault another because you feel angry or provoked, those are not legitimate reasons to attack another. Remember whatever choice you make you will have to pay the consequences, choose wisely, your life will be a lot easier. Good luck

That's simple battery. Because there was no weapon involved, and the battery was not directed at a woman, child, or police officer, you might be fined and the charges will probably be a misdeameanor. If you can prove any of these, there will be no penalty:
Lack of intent
Self defense
The defense of others
The defense of property
Though that doesn't seem the case. I'd suggest a good defense lawyer. You may be required to attend some sort of anger-management classes, as well as some service.

You should have kept your cool, if he wasn't seriously hurt you may have to pay for his medical bills however.
If it was a support group chances are you can find someone to corrobarate your story, you know witness that this person was picking on you as you say. You put your hands on him first though so depending where you live you may have to face the music, or maybe just go for anger management. Good luck, keep your cool walk away, it hurts trouble seekers more if you pretend they are not bothering you when they try to get a rise out of you, because if they can then they have accomplished what they wanted. right.

Sounds like a misdemeanor battery. You were verbally provoked; however, you initiated physical contact. If you didn't beat him senseless and you have no prior record, you might get off with community service, and have to pay some punitive damages. If he at least spit on you first then its a different story, but on the bright side you will still be able to vote and most likely own a gun, although I don't suggest you do (for your benefit as much as everyone else's).

If you are brave enough to assault someone, then you should be brave enough to face the consequences. I'm sorry to have to be so harsh, but stop acting like a p*ssy and start acting like a man. In other words know who you are, and what your principles are. If you're trying to act tough and you're not really tough inside, then you have no business assaulting anyone who insults you.
