At first they felt she was "unworthy" and when they found out she "wasn't going away" they took a wait-and-see attitude. When she "turned herself around" became a "quiet person of respect and didn't speak out of turn or make unkind comments about the Royals" she was considered to be "okay." Not good, not great, just "okay."

What can you do when your child is in love with someone you do not prefer for them? Accept it and go on. So, they do the reasonable thing, they "accept the fact that Charles is married to a divorcee" and live with it. They do not like it at all, but they don't have to do they. Its up to Charles, not them. In public they simply put on their "public faces" and do their jobs.

Camilla does not make waves, so they appreciate her for that. You take what you can get.

Camilla Parker Bowles Windsor is not the Duchess of York, she is the Duchess of Cornwall. Sarah Ferguson is the Duchess of York. The Duchess of Cornwall can only hope for minimum resistance, never total acceptance.

I think the Queen has a middling opinion of her. Compared to Diana, Camilla doesn't do controversial things (such as working with AIDS patients or land mine victims). Her only real 'black mark' is that she is a divorcee. So, the Queen probably likes this about her.
I also think the Queen may be happy with the fact that Camilla's popularity doesn't overshadow her own (which wasn't the case with Diana).

I think that as a mother, the Queen knows in her heart that Charles is with the only woman he ever truly loved. She may not approve of the way they've conducted themselves all these years, but I would be happy if my son was.

I believe that they are not quite fond of her. The queen did not want Charles to marry Camilla.

I also guess that she is not fond of her. I don't know much about it. Hopefully overtime she'll get over it, and see her as a nice person. As long as they are happy that is what should matter. Mother's will be mothers.
