The foundation used on TV and movies looks natural and never cakey or shiny. Does anybody know what brand the make-up artists use on the actors/actress's?? And if there is a special way to apply it? Your help is appreciated!

Another brand that is quite popular is dermablend. When I was doing make-up artistry we used it, and the coverage was amazing. It can cover tattoos, bruises, birth marks, anything. The trouble with 'stage' make-up is that it's too heavy for every day wear.
There are plenty of cheaper brands that can look very natural. When choosing a colour for you, the best test you can do in the store is to rub a little on your jaw and test the colouring.
Also, when applying the foundation, to get a more natural even tone, don't just spread the stuff on, you need to do quick flicks with the sponge, almost like you're dabbing it in paint... haha that's the best I can explain it but I hope you get what I mean!!

As people said before, makeup that they wear on TV is way too heavy for everyday wear. Try any spray foundation (the kind in an aerosol can). Heres a really good one:

It's a little pricey but well worth it. Spray some of the foundation onto a CLEAN makeup sponge (you can buy these at the drugstore) and brush over face. After a week, throw the sponge away and use a new one. Good luck, and feel free to email me!

I"m not a makeup artist, but have been on TV a few times.

The times I was able to look I noted that they used M.A.C foundation and powder on me. LORAC was another one that I saw in the boxes.

To apply it, they just used rectangular and wedge sponges (have no idea what brand..the sponges didn't seem too fancy, they were throwing them away as they went.)

Keep in mind, this isn't that pratical for day wear though. The stuff is very heavy (with the foundation and heavy-powder used) and looks strange in daylight!

The times I've been made up, they used MAC products specifically for film.

Makeup for film/video is much heavier than anything you'd want to wear for the street. Plus, they have someone touching up the actors all the time, so it never looks bad.

Usually it is the loose powder used to finnish a makeup aplication that make the actors look flawless.

They use MAC products on tv, but the best makeup that i found that gives you that movie star look without looking strange in daylight is bare minerals. Looks great on and doesn't make your skin break out.
