No. We've gotten along fine for over 200 years without an official language. There is nothing that needs to be fixed.

Absolutly. And if they don't have the guts to do that then give all the other languages equal time. Why should an immigrant from Korea be forced to learn 2 different languages here because one group won't learn English? I mean it's going to make phone calls a nightmare but hey fair is fair. Why should one group of immigrants be given special consideration over the others? They have rights too. They came here for a better life as well. Just think how culturally rich our children will be when they can finally read fun with Dick and Jane in a multitude of languages. I mean they won't have time to learn anything else.......but they are going to be diverse! Wouldn't that be grand!

Yes and why not other countries have official languages. English is spoken here as it should be. It used to be a requirement at one time to become a US citizen.

Why it already should be? As for me i have no intention nor desire to ever learn Spanish not even as a second language and i don't think that America should be forced to do so either! let them learn English as a second language after all they are the ones coming here illegally to live!

YES> And I think that anyone who lives in this country should be able to speak the language, say thank you in ENGLISH, read and write in english. I don't care if they speak another language at home or anywhere else, but if I speak to them in english, they should answer in the same language. We are too liberal now, and we accept THEIR WAYS> When my ancestors came to America, they had to learn the language, or they wouldn't get a job, a place to live, go to school, or be served anywhere else for that matter. Get this straight, " WELCOME TO AMERICA, NOW SPEAK ENGLISH"> Thank you. Niki

Yes. Immigrants and visitors should be required to have a basic working knowledge of English in addition to their second language, whatever it may be.
