God is know for forgiveness in paradise, this is true. So if I rob a bank god may forgive me, but here on earth I have a court trial that has laws of man to abide. If Saddam believes he will be forgiven by Allah all the better, he should have nothing to worry about.

The hard part is assigning an executioner because we have to grant him an exemption on the ban on "Thou shalt not kill". Shouldn't the decision to assign an executioner be out of the hands of men as well? What if we parachuted him onto Baffin island with a Kirpan knife and nothing else. It would take divine intervention to spare his life would it not? And all of us would be less culpable for violating "Thou shalt not kill" by deciding to assign an executioner.
