I think the media has a big influence on people and probably more so than religion. Weak minded people are easily manipulated by media too.

Definitely. In theory, the media is a great thing - the idea of a vehicle that can communicate to the masses everything they need to know. Unfortunately, the media only communicates what they want us to know and if we want to know anything else we have to delve deeply. Fortunately, along came the world wide web and many more people are better informed than they were. It has also enabled certain "media scandals" from happening because people have found truths through the internet. The media also sensationalizes everything and blows things out of proportion. The most evil thing about the media (besides the people who control it) is a little thing called a "sound bite". These are one-liners that people can easily memorize and believe. You better believe the media influences people.

We wouldn't know anything about the world around us without the media.

We read newspapers, watch TV, check out Websites...all forms of media. So simply from this: Without various types of media, we would only know what we could see with our own eyes. This in itself has to be considered a big influence.

Now, if the question is "Can Personalities, Reporters, Opinions, Slants, or Agendas have a big influence on people?" I think the answer is still yes. Many people are too lazy to think for themselves so they start to agree with the opinions they hear repeatedly.

Phil S you are the idiot! People all over the world are affected by their media's not just us Americans. It is up to the individual to sort through information and seek out the truth of what is going on. The Internet has given us another information tool. And so has the video camera. The bottom line is the gathering of information and making your own intelligent opinions & conclusions. Thank God for the freedom of the press in this great USA.

properly, in spite of the undeniable fact that i might like to be all, "I roll my own way!" and whatnot, i'd desire to admit...subconciously the media has probable affected what outfits I placed on, how I do my hair, etc. on the make up section in spite of the undeniable fact that, i do no longer placed on makeup and that i finished donning all of it mutually this twelve months because of the fact I hated basically donning it because of the fact different human beings have been saying ladies can't seem appealing without makeup =] kayy properly i'm hoping I replied your question with no need too uninteresting. Haha (:

Yes I think so. The media lets you see what they want you to see and let you hear what they want you to hear. You never get the whole story from them one way or the other and some things are just over exagerrated. They make it interesting so you keep coming back for more. Some people are weak minded and believe everything they read/ hear. I hope i told you what you wanted to know

Unfortunately, most people blindly follow the media. People are also too afraid to speak their mind. They rather be politically correct, than speak out against injustice.
