Anything could cause it to fail. No fluid in the tranny, poor driving habits. Hence towing in O/D on. Or towing things, that are heavier than recommended, or the SUV not built to tow. Leaks and all kinds of other things.

Driving habits most likely. Of course if it is a Dodge, then the transmission was doomed to failure long ago.

lots of things can cause it,like not keeping the oil and filter changed,your driving habits,too low on fluid.

stopping for speed bumps.

going through puddles too slowly.

entering the turn-lane too late.

crossing extra lanes when turning.

using your turn signal after you've gotten into the turn lane, but not before cutting in front of me.

talking on your cellphone while driving.

proceeding when you don't have right-of-way

waving at me and not proceeding when you *do* have right-of-way
