Have you had your husband tested to see if his sperm count is high enough? When women are treated for infertility, that's usually the first test that's done.

All right, I'm a teenaged boy, but I feel like answering anyway. After having been on birth control for so long, it takes a while for things to get back to normal. I don't think you should expect to get pregnant so soon after stopping the pill. I say give your body a few months to get back with the swing of things. And don't just do it 14 days before your period (especially since it's probably not regular right now). I would suggest a couple days earlier and a couple days later. 14 days is the best time, but sperm takes a little while to reach the egg, and it can live for quite a few days, so try it earlier.

I believe it's having sex at about 14 days after the FIRST day of your last period, not 14 days before your next period...that way is a little more easy to figure out when you are ovulating. Also, it's not only the 14th day, different women have different cycles. You could be ovulating on the 10th day after your period, or on the 18th day. Here are a couple of ways to know you are ovulating: your body temp will go up slightly, you will have a vaginal discharge, thick and clear, and you might experience cramping/pains where your ovaries are. That's how I can tell I'm ovulating. But you also can get those ovulation tests that tell you when you are ovulating...then have sex like crazy =) If this doesn't work after trying for a few months, go to your doctor. Your husband can be shooting blanks, or you could have some kind of cyst. Good luck!!

Going off the pill after being on it for a long time will cause disruptions in your cycle, so it might take a while for you to get pregnant. There are some things you can do to figure out when you're most fertile. 1) Chart your body temperature every day. Your temp spikes when ovulation occurs. 2) Use an ovulation predictor kit (they can be expensive though). 3) Keep track of your vaginal discharge. When the discharge becomes egg-white in consistency and slightly sticky, ovulation is within a day or so. If you and your partner have been trying for more than a year with no luck, consult a fertility specialist.

My fiance and i tried to concieve for almost 2 years and had no luck. I went to my local doctor wanting IVF and other treatments as a last option. he did a general health check up and some blood test and found i have an underactive tyriod, he put me on medication i am now 6 and a half weeks pregnant after being on medication for 8 weeks i am not saying this is your problem chick it may be something else. the pill may take a while to clear out of your system. But it doesn't hurt to have a few test just to be sure.

My first two pregnancies were very easy, almost as if I got pregnant at the thought of wanting to be pregnant. However, the third time around didn't happen quite so easily. It took me 18 months to conceive the third time. I too focused on the 14 day rule, but it wasn't until I booted that idea and incorporated my own every other day routine plus I cut out the stress. I put it in God's hands and decided he would tell us when and I was pregnant within three months. Remember, you can get pregnant anywhere from day 3-22 of your cycle. Please do not focus on the four usual days, you will drive yourself crazy.

Be patient. Your body needs to get back in to the routine of ovulating. And many woman do not ovulate every month even though they have a period. Don't worry about the 14 days before you start. There is a 3 day window. I personally got pregnant twice on a missed period. Don't stress about it. You'll be pregnant before you know it.

I recommend having sex every other day for the whole month long until you become pregnant. Just keep having sex alot.. of course. My husband and I had sex every other day and that went on for three months, I found out I was pregnant at the end of the third month of trying. I also believe that stress is not good when you are trying to concieve. So try to relax. I hope it happens really soon for you. Good Luck.

Cami, it takes about 4 months for the effect of the pill to go away after stopping it.
You are aware that to get pregnant you must have sex on a day that your eggs are being released.
After the 3rd day from the day that menses started put a thermometer into your mouth and check your body temperature every morning before you start turning in bed. The best time is at about 4 a.m. Maintain a chart. You will find that on one day the body temperature drops from 1/2 degree to one degree. This is the day that your eggs are being released. If you want to get pregnant this is the day that you must have sex. Tell your husband to ejaculate on his inward thrust so that the sperms will shoot deep inside.
After having sex you must stay in bed for about 30 mins with your knees bent up with a pillow under your buttocks so that the sperms will not pour out - to enable them to travel up.
Get your husband to save his sperms in the testacles for at least 3 days before sex to enable them to mature well to do their job.

contrary to what we might believe, having a lot of sex could actually DECREASE the amount of sperm in each ejaculation. most fertility specialists recommend not having sex more than 48 hours between encounters.
it's also important to know when you are ovulating (it's usually 14 days before your next period) and having sex during that time.
there are lots of websites for ttc that have fertility calendars.
try to relax. most couples don't get pregnant during the first few months of trying.
good luck.
