When do gay people know that they are gay. Do they always know or does it take an experiance to find out. Is there an age that people find out? Or is it a stage like puberity?

Hi,

Let me answer that as honestly and completely as I can.

Let me start by saying, no, it isn't a stage -- that is a common excuse, but it is false.

There are three types of sexual preference: Straight, a straight person is only naturally interested in romance and sex with members of the opposite gender -- bisexual, a bisexual is naturally interested in romance and sex with members of both genders -- and gay, a gay person is only naturally interested in romance and sex with members of the same gender.

Now, within the society in which we sit -- due to various socio-theocratic pressures over time -- heterosexuality (being straight) is expected (though far less now than years ago) -- as a result, many gay people for many years try to hide their sexuality from others AND FROM THEMSELVES.

I've never known a gay boi that hadn't had a sense of desire for other males at a very young age. Many of them however had put it aside, asserted that it would go away, or told them-self that it was a stage, or even managed to compartmentalize it psychologically so that they could even forget it for a time.

It won't actually go away however, and the feelings that a homosexual can call up for females are.... counterfeit at best.

So, gay people (at least males) know they are gay very young, but may hide it (not everyone does, I came out to my friends at 14) from themselves. Either courage, a gradual and growing sense of what one is, or a deliberate act (I have a friend who had known he was gay since 10, but married to please his parents -- at 23 he divorced, and at 25 he finally dealt with the terror he felt of telling his father and came out. Now he has his first boyfriend -- whom he loves very much. ) Functional homosexuality occurs later for about 50% of gays, even now - due to denial, which indeed, is not a river in Egypt.

I hope that helps, contact me if you need to.

Dwell in love,

Kind thoughts,

Reyn

Well for me, I always thought girls were pretty. Thats normal. Then I saw this lesbian chick and I was just turned on by her-I had a crush---on a chick. Thats when I knew. I guess it's just the moment that you realize that you are attracted to the same sex. Maybe if you meet a guy or already know a guy who is gay, then find yourself staring and thinking about him and being kinda shy-then you'll know. By the way,I see your a SC fan. SC rocks! I am from Sc. Why don't you e mail me? We can chat for a minute. Ok Hope all this helps. I'm peacin out! Later and good luck!!

I knew when I was very young, actually. I knew that I was attracted to boys before I knew what "gay" was. I thought I was the only one in the world. I felt isolated, and totally withdrawn to such an extent that I wanted to not feel the way that I did. I didn't realize that I WAS gay, until I had my first girlfriend. It took me eleven months to kiss her, and after that, I realized it wasn't for me. I don't know if I've answered your question, but I hope it helped!!

I think it might be a stage like puberty because that's when sexual ideas come into the fold.

It's different for everyone. Some people claim to know when they are very young, others later in life. Part of this may be due to the environment the child grows up in, if parents are open and accepting about sexuality etc. I'm not sure when I first became aware of it, but I do remember being excited about seeing friends naked when I was 10 or 11.

you're actually not born gay, so as that meana you could pick no remember if or no longer you will desire to be gay. there is isn't a diverse answer. If that's what you desire then choose for it, if no longer, then do no longer subject approximately it.

Some know in their early years....others it doesn't happen until they start into puberty and they start to understand and think about sex. For others it isn't until later, 20's & 30's.

It is an individual experiance for everyone.

Many many years of thinking about it usually leads them to question it. Then they test themselves and find out. Sadly it isn't a stage.

It is not so much knowing that you are gay, but realizing you are. Most people usually realize that they are gay in puberty, but can deny the realization for years afterwards.
