It really depends on you.
It depends on your:
1. budget
2. carrying weight
3. desired screen size.
4. Amount of time you'll need to be unconnected from the a.c.
d.c. power run time. 2 hours or 10 hours.
5. If you need to play or burn d.v.ds
6 If you plan to use it for gaming.
7. What courses you need it for.

You could get a $500 laptop which would be ok for word processing and dial up surfing. If you need way more than that it will be a lot more.

I suggest you go to cnet and have them help you look for a laptop based on the q above.

llenovo has the best battery life so i agree most only last an hour you can get one that get five on a charge unless you can plug in at school
