The boys' mother died and there was a framed photo of her in their room and for a few episodes they would say things like i miss mom and then they never brought it up again.
The girls' father was never mentioned on tv, thus the funny plotlines involving him in the movies decades later.
The kids didn't have issues bc it was television!

Mike Brady, a widowed architect with sons Greg, Peter, and Bobby, married Carol Martin (née Tyler), whose daughters were Marcia, Jan, and Cindy. The daughters took the Brady surname. Schwartz wanted Carol to have been a divorcée. The network objected to this, but a compromise was reached whereby no mention was made of the circumstances in which Carol's first marriage ended.
This was the Brady Bunch, there were no issues!

Both spouses had died so Carol and Mike were widowed raising their kids alone when they met...where these other stories are coming from is beyond me...this was explained in the first few episodes, but the respective parents weren't brought up as the network thought it would take away from the premise of the show....

They were in a torrid affair that caused a messy divorce with thir original spouses. Mikes 1st wife Alice started drinking heavily and aged her appearance a lot. Mike felt sory for her after the divorce and gave her a job as his housekeeper, which kept her happy. Mike's 2nd wifes name was Shirley and he had a bunch of kids with her. Last we heard was they were successfully on the road as a singing group under her maiden name Partridge. Carol is the 3rd wife.
Carol's husband was much more depressed about losing his family and put a hse to his tailpipe in the 2nd episode. Fortunately, he was too drunk to remember to start the car, so everyone joked aout it as the took him away in a straitjacket.

I know Carol was divorced, but I don't think they ever really got into on the show. The kids were probably doped up on something to get through their days.

I believe the other spouses did die, and I always found it weird that none ofthe kids minded being thrown together into the new family, and they never brought up the kids' dead parents. But back then, people wanted light, fluffy television, not deep issues, so I guess that's why.

I think in the first episode, Bobby was mad his father was getting married. The mother had died, that's all I know. I always wondered why the other kids didn't get mad over the marriage as much as Bobby. Oh well, they always had to be happy...

Don't know who they were married to. The kids don't have issues because everything is perfect on TV.
We also didn't see the fact that the father was gay and mom was banging the oldest boy. (Real life was much more interesting than the sitcom.)
