It's like asking why the armadillo crossed Highway 41 last night.
It's an art. Not only do you have to be smart and make sense, you also have to be entertaining enough to keep ADD people interested. Start with a joke, get a laugh, then start another joke and write some of the informative part before writing a punch line. That's the bait and the hook. If you manage to get something into your reader's brain that will intrigue him or her within the first few sentences, they might keep reading. Try to use pictures when possible.
Or maybe your subjects are too serious for jokes? Then you have to use a different kind of hook- appeal to a person's sense of beauty, offer an upfront reason why you think someone will benefit from reading what you have to say.
Sing and dance in print if that's what it takes to hook a reader.
To get to the other side.

Perhaps your ideals are not believable. Perhaps you are just wrong, but determined. If everone thought the same way about every bit of evidence presented to them we wouldn't need to explain anything, would we.
The answer is, there is no answer, because we are free to believe what we want, even if it is illogical, or wrong. Just accept that people had different views, and move on.

Try simplifying. Use words three syllables or less. And if all else fails, oversimplify. Break simple concepts down into their base ideas. A good model to follow is the way philosophers outline theories.

If you want to win them over, you have to go by their terms. A long winded explanation, while thorough, may do less for you than a simplified explanation. They may challenge the simplifications, but you can always return to those.
Keep in mind that you can't force something on someone who doesn't want to see it or doesn't care about it.
