Sweetie, I know exactly what you are talking about. I am allergic to fleas and I know from experience that yes, all pets can carry fleas if they are not treated for them. I have 2 cats and 1 dog and they are treated every month for fleas and I do not have any in my house. My cats don't go outside but my dog does. They are the worse bites to have. I truly feel sorry for you. Your friend is going to have to have her house fumigated to get rid of them because if you have just 1 flea in your house, then within a month you can have 90,000, so you can imagine how many your friend has. Also, fleas can go dormant for up to 2 years without eating. They can jump a mile in an hour and they get everywhere. Even in your attic. Their reproductive cycle is every 21 days, so if you think you have brought some home with you, go the store and get a product called Flea Bomb and set them off in your house, one for each room. Since you are probably not infested with them, you will only need to do this to ease your mind. The fleas bit you while you there but jumped off of you, hopefully, after biting you. Also, I have found out that people who are fair skinned with light hair are more prone to be bitten by fleas but people with dark skin and dark hair don't seem to be bothered by them. That has been my experience. Tell your friend as nicely as you can what I have told you. Go to your vets office and get some literature on fleas and give it to your friend. Or look it up on the internet. Good Luck!!

They're only fleas. Get over it.

Wash your bedding in warm water and take a shower. This should take care of the bugs you're bringing in.

I wouldnt blame it on the cat totally. It could be a combination of the cat going outside (a bad idea for other reasons), them not treating the home (lots of pets = need for flea treatment in the house), and their plain denial/stupidity.

I have 5 cats. One solution that helps a lot is to do the top spot flea medication. How to convince your friend's parents they should try it, I don't know.

Maybe just stop visiting his house until flea season ends?

I got fleas bites from fleas off my daughters vat and yes very itchy and I got them at the top of my socks. They jump about 15 inches and can detect a person or animal to jump on and bite for blood which they need to reproduce and live on. Very hard to get rid of. Yes you may have brought them into the house. Go get a duster that you put on beds chairs etc. from a pet supply house.
Exterminators wanted $300. Yes tell the family fleas dont bite everyone and some people have different reactions.

Just tell your friend to tell her mom to use Frontline or Advantage on their pets to get rid of any fleas they may have. If she insist she doesn't have fleas don't get mad just give her the information.

As for you wash your hair real well and wash your clothing immediately.

Yes I agree with your mom. I would not let you go over their house for a long while and not until I was sure they fixed the flea infestation.

The wellness nutrition shop regularly has some sturdy organic shampoos and coverings for fleas that are non irritating. My well known approach is least irritating and can be relaxing on your canines because it will provide him lots of your undivided interest: %. the fleas off via hand and drown them in a bowl of water with some drops of dish cleansing soap in it. Our canines might line up for this therapy in the event that they have been given fleas. there is tiny combs on the puppy shop to assist with this..very inexpensive and could be quite sensible.

Unfortunately, they could be in your house now. If you don't have animals, the solution is pretty simple: Contact an exterminator and get a RESIDUAL flea killer and spray it all over your house. In my area, its about 30 bucks for a house size can.

MAKE SURE YOU GET RESIDUAL AND NOT CONTACT KILL! Contact kill only kills what it touches when it's applied. Residual killer will kill fleas in a matter of hours, but it stays in the carpet for a 3 months (even if you vacuum) and kill fleas as they hatch from eggs layed by the first batch. They say vacuuming speeds up this process.

If you have animals, contact their vet about it and get Frontline.

BTW, if you don't have animals, fleas will have a little more trouble reproducing. Its slower on human blood, but still possible.

Now, about telling your friend, because you got all bit up, I say you should tell her. Especially because you now have to spray your house for fleas. That makes it no longer just their problem...now its yours too. Offer her the info I just gave you about flea killers and just say you are trying to help.

sorry to say that yes you can bring them back to your own home, in your hair or more likely in your clothing. I don't know what to tell you except to tell your friend the truth- that they have fleas in their house and you aren't allowed over until they are gone- blame it on your mom if you have to- that is what we are here for *LOL* I have 7 cats and zero fleas, they are not allowed outside and we use rub on flea medication from the vet (since I do have a small dog that goes outside to potty and can bring fleas in) Best of luck to you.

Just tell them that their cats have fleas and if they don't like that then they are not worth mixing with. If it turned out (unlikely as it is) that fleas are not the cause of those bumps then I would have a doctor check you for sarcoids.

NEVER go back there!!!! And YES, you can carry them home!!! IT only takes ONE to start an infestation in your house!!

Isn't that sick!!! Get some Advantage or Frontline for any pets you have. One treatment should do the trick since you do not have a problem.
If you have no pets, do not worry. They need to feed on animals.
