My Dad passed away this past year, he was on ssi disability, does my mom get any benefits now?
Ok so he is disabled and getting SSI. My mom has never worked except for jobs that paid her cash, isn't she still entitled to some social security benefits from my dad passing away? She has had no money for 8 months now and is still a wreck from losing Dad and I need to find out how I can help her. Any info is much appreciated.
Thank you and God Bless...

Your mom should get his money now. (If she is over 62.)Get her down to the social Security office right away. It will take 6 months for her start receiving the money. But the forms have to be submitted. I am sorry about your dad. My condolences to the family.

If she is has custody of and is caring for his child that is under the age of 18, then yes, she is entitled to benefits.

You should check with the social security admin. I think though that she should be entitled to survivor benefits even though she's not qualified for soc. sec. on her own.

i understand that if she is 60 or over, she will declare her widow's reward. If no longer, she could be out of success. yet, a pair of months earlier she turns 60, she will bypass forward & prepare for the advantages.
