I recently installed a wireless network from an existing cable modem. The computer i installed the wireless network on has never been hooked up to the internet before. As soon as it connected, Norton Antivirus updated itself..and it went down hill from there. The computer froze, i would restart it and it would freeze again. So i did a "System Recovery" After the recovery i restarted the computer. As soon as it turned on a black screen came up with a lot of white writing. One line said "Press F11 for system restore in: 3...2...1" after that stopped blinking another message came up "NTLDR is compressed, press Ctrl+alt+delete to restart" so i did that, it came right back to that screen and did it again..it wont go away and i cant login to my computer because of it...how do i fix this?

You might need to take it to a reopair shop.

My guess is that after you connected, it downloaded SP2 and gave you some new drivers that are incompatible. See if you can get into Safe mode (press F8 repeatedly while teh system boots)

NTLDR is what you computer uses to tell it what to do when it is booting. Put in your Windows CD and restart your computer. If it is set to do so it will boot from the CD before it does from your hard drive. If not, you can try to press "F9" while it is rebooting and hopefully that will give you a selection to choose your CD drive as your boot drive. If neither of these work, you would have to change the boot sequence in your system bios and I'm too lazy to tell you how to do that because all system bios are different.
Assuming you are booting to your CD now, after it goes though it's usual sequence you will be left with a screen where you can choose "R" to try and repair your system. After you choose the R, you will have to type in the administrator password (hopefully you know this). After successfully entering in your password you will be at a screen with a prompt waiting for you to type something. Here you will type "FIX MBR". Accept the usual are you sure questions, remove your CD and press the restart button on your computer. This process will write a new MBR (NTLDR) and hopefully will take care of your situation.
If it does not, press the F11 while booting and it will take you to the system restore that is set up with your computer. Follow the instructions and it will restore your computer to how it was when you first bought it (this method will also erase all of the files you saved since you got your pc so it is a last resort).

Good luck!

unhook your computer from the Internet reformat it then go in and uninstall Norton anti virus go and buy a Mcafee overtires or some virus scanner that you like besides Norton scan the computer for viruses and then hook it back up to the Internet and go and get your windows updates after you update your virus scanner.Norton really slows down your computer and the one that comes with your computer is a trial version of Norton so you may have got hit as soon as you hooked up to the Internet with virus or something like that.if you want a free virus scanner that works good go to www.avast.com and get the avast for home virus scanner it is free it will be a trial to but give them your e-mail address and they will send you a code that will make it a full version for 14 months.
