Just disable it with you key. There is a red keyhole somewhere below your steering wheel to disable it.

Mos common place to find the hardware attaching the airbag, is under the dash. Probably behind the glove box, compartment, then look up, underneath there. Good luck.

don't mess with the bag unless you disarm the whole system.
