Ok so here is the deal, i moved into my apt. at the beginning of aug. I had told my roommate that he had to quit smoking weed or else i wouldn't move in with him. So he started smoking it again sometime after we moved in. I can't live in this type of enviroment. I am planning to move out this coming weekend, but our lease isn't up until aug 2007. I am not telling him before i move out, i am waiting for him to be at work because he is a violent person and would take it out on me. I am planning to go talk to the apt. managers tomorrow and see what i can do to get out of the lease early, is there anything i can say or do to maybe help alone this process when i go to talk to them. This is a serious situation and i need out at the least possible cost to me. Please help!

I assume you signed the lease? try to sub-lease, advertise and advise all parties, including the Landlord you have to find another Tenant to take over the lease, because the situation is intolerable. You may have to pay 0-3 months rent, depending on the Lease and Landlord. Maybe you have a reasonable Landlord, hopefully, otherwise you have to abide by your lease.

If your name is on the lease you are responsible for the lease. What you can do depends upon the terms of the lease. If you haven't read it already now would be a good time!! Go talk to the landlord and ASK him politely how he can help you. I'd not mention the drug issue as druggies don't make good tenants and the landlord will want to be sure he can still get his money if you are gone.

Just go to your land lord and say " i need to talk to you about getting out of my lease, My roomate smokes weed and i can't live in that type of situation, he's also violent so please keep this between us till after i move out" who knows he might be more understanding then you think.

Tell the manager the situation. Eventually, the manager will kick you guys out, because of the drug situation. They you will be out of the lease. Also, you can tell the manager that you would like to move into another unit when he/she kick out your roomate. Trust me, you guys will get kicked out. In this case, it would be a good thing. Good luck.
