Green Day
Album: 1039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours
Written by Billie Joe Armstrong

Song Meaning:
GREEN DAY
This song is about starting to appriciate the little things in life. A "green day" is a day spent doing nothing but pot.

Lyrics:
A small cloud has fallen
The whit mist hits the ground
My lungs comfort me with joy
Vegging on one detail
The rest just crowds around
My eyes itch of burning red

Pictures sounds
Of moving insects so surreal
Lay around
Looks like I found something new

Laying in my bed
I think I'm left field
I picture someone, I think it's you
You're standing so damn close
My body begins to swell
Why does 1 + 1 make 2?

In 1986, childhood friends Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt (both 14 years old) formed the two person band Sweet Children. The first Sweet Children show was on October 17, 1988, at Rod's Hickory Pit in Vallejo, California where Armstrong's mother was working. In 1989, drummer Al Sobrante joined Armstrong and Dirnt after his band Isocracy broke up. The trio decided to form a new band[citation needed], allegedly they chose the name, Green Day, after a marijuana reference, and performed their first show in the courtyard of Contra Costa College, a junior college in San Pablo where Sobrante attended

Sorry could not find a reference for Korn, but will keep looking now that you have my interest peaked.

Found this:
Korn would be the name of the band, chosen because no-one would forget it. Their manager Larry Weintraub thought it was so bad that they would never get a record deal with it. Davis then proposed another name to Weintraub: they would name the band after him, and be called 'Larry'. Weintraub gave in at this point, and got them signed within three months under their original name of Korn, with Jonathan developing the logo with the infantile reversed 'R'. The band released their self-titled debut album, Korn, through Epic/Immortal Records in October, 1994. Korn is arguably the album most responsible for the rise of nu metal and has been a vital influence to legions of other bands of the genre including Limp Bizkit, Coal Chamber, Adema, and Slipknot, earning Korn the frequent nickname 'godfather of nu-metal.'

The band has sold 35 million records worldwide and 26 were in the untied states, some agree
